Analytics
Cohort Analysis
A behavioral analytics subset that takes data from a given eCommerce platform, web application, or online game and breaks it into related groups for analysis.
What is Cohort Analysis?
Cohort analysis breaks your users into related groups (cohorts), usually sharing a common characteristic or experience within a defined time-span.
Common Cohorts
- Acquisition Cohorts: Users who signed up in the same month (e.g., "Jan 2026 Cohort").
- Behavioral Cohorts: Users who performed a specific action (e.g., "Users who used Feature X").
Usage
It is primarily used to track retention over time. For example, "Of the users who signed up in January, what percentage are still active in June?"
